Register of Wills and Orphans Court


The Orphans Court Division is responsible for the docketing, filing, retrieval and maintenance of documents pertaining to adoptions, termination of parental rights, guardianships for minors, adjudication of incapacities, and other dependency matters relating to juveniles. We maintain records of the accounting and distribution of estates audited by the court. In addition, escrow accounts are held by the office pending distribution by court order. The division is also responsible for maintaining marriage records issued in this County and issue marriage licenses and certificates.


The Register of Wills is responsible for the docketing, filing, retrieval and maintenance of documents pertaining to estates of decedents from the year 1752 to the present. Our office is responsible for collecting, recording, and disbursing county fees and inheritance tax collected as required by law. Disputes pertaining to wills and estates are resolved internally by this office or through the court.

Notice is hereby given that the following accounts in decedents estates, have been filed in the Office of the Orphans' Court of Northampton County, and that the same will be called for Confirmation on Thursday, MAY 22ND, 2025 (5/22/25) @ 9:00 A.M., in CR # 10 at which time the Courts will hear exceptions, and make distribution of the balances ascertained to be in the hands of accountants.

Birth and Death Records

  • ​ Death Records FROM 1893 to 1936, are available in the Northampton County, Register of Wills Office.
  •  Death Records AFTER 1936 must be requested directly from the State, Division of Vital records.
